Irish Masters of Beagles Association
THE CURRAGH FOOT BEAGLES
The hunt was founded in 1954 by Capts. Reg Alvey, Pat Reidy & Brian
McGurk all serving in Ceannt Bks.Curragh Camp and had its first
meet at
the Jockey Hall Hotel on the edge of the Curragh on the 10th Oct
1954.
Since
then it has hunted a country comprising of most of Co. Kildare with
parts of Laois, West Wicklow & Carlow.
The Curragh
Foot is the only Military pack on the Island and has its base in the
Curragh Camp where its kennels has been for most of
its existance.
The hunt has had a number of Masters in its 52 years. These were
Capt.Reg Alvey, Col., Brian McGurk,
Comdt. Pat Reidy(1966-68), Lt.Col.Maxie McLoughlin (1968-70),
Col. Joe O'Sullivan (1971-96), Mr Pat Deasy (1996- 2006)
The present J.Masters are
Messrs. Derry Crowley, John Clothworthy, Stephen Powell

Huntsman: Derry Crowley MH.
Whippers-in: 2/Lt John Dicker; Mr Robert Hutchinson; Mr Jack Dempsey.
Meet: Sundays and occasional bye days at 1pm.
Subscription: family €60, individual €35. Cap: €5. Visitors welcome: €10.
St.Stephen's Day 2006
By tradition St Stephen's Day (Boxing Day in some countries) is a major day in the calendar of all hunts in Ireland.
The Curragh Foot Beagles usually meet on the Curragh Plains on the day and this year was no exception.
